Support Liaison: Helping Families and Students
Support Liaisons help families, students, and teachers create a friendly learning environment at home and in virtual settings. This role does not involve tutoring, teaching, or holding students accountable for learning progress or compliance requirements. Instead, the Support Liaison helps families and students develop effective learning habits through a positive, strengths-based approach and teaches them how to use digital tools and learning systems with confidence.
How the Support Liaison Can Help
- Set up regular check-ins with families and teachers to understand needs and offer support with:
- Planning and following a daily schedule
- Building study skills
- Organizing tasks
- Managing assignments
- Help develop motivation strategies
- Provide positive encouragement
- Offer step-by-step training for students and families on digital tools and learning platforms:
- Using Office 365 apps
- Submitting assignments
- Understanding deadlines
- Navigating Buzz and other learning tools
- Gather feedback from families and teachers to improve support.
- Offer temporary help while encouraging independence and growth.
Working Together
Support Liaisons support the important roles of teachers and families. By working as a team, liaisons can help every student feel confident and ready to succeed in their digital learning journey.
Request Help
If parents or guardians feel they would benefit from Support Liaison help, they should contact their homeroom teacher.
Teachers will use the Intervention Request for Assistance Form to request help from a Family and Staff Support Liaison.
