Immunization Requirements

Immunization Requirements for Students in Alternative School Programs

All students enrolled in public or private schools - including those participating in alternative programs are required to meet Washington State immunization requirements. (RCW 28A.210.120).

In June 2021, the Department of Health updated the Immunization Manual for Schools, Preschools, and Child Care Facilities and removed the phrase “shared air space.” As a result, beginning in the 2021–22 school year, immunization requirements apply to all students - regardless of program type - including home-school, vocational technical, Running Start, and virtual programs.

To meet these requirements, families must provide:

  • A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) and/or
  • A Certificate of Exemption (COE)

These documents must be on file with the school or district and are included in the annual immunization report submitted to the Department of Health.

As a public school ALE program, CVA is required to follow these state immunization guidelines.

Your CVA Enrollment Advisor will provide instructions for completing the CIS and COE forms. Please contact your Enrollment Advisor if you have any questions.
