Fitness/Conditioning Activities courses emphasize conditioning activities that help develop muscular strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness.
Learning Goals
- The student will develop motor skill and movement concepts as developmentally appropriate.
- The student will acquire the knowledge and skills to safely participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate physical activities.
- The student will understand the components of health-related fitness and interprets information from feedback, evaluation, and self-assessment in order to improve performance.
- The student will understand the components of skill-related fitness and interprets information from feedback, evaluation, and self-assessment in order to improve performance.
- The student will understand the relationship of nutrition and food nutrients to body composition and physical performance.
- The student will analyze personal health and fitness information.

Personal Fitness
In this Personal Fitness course, students participate in weekly cardiovascular, flexibility, strength and endurance activities. Students who are unable to participate in such physical exercises will be unable to complete the requirements of this course. Students who have physical limitations that prevent them from participating in physical activity should consider enrolling in “Fitness Lifestyle Design” or “Health Opportunities through Physical Education” which are more adaptable for students with physical limitations. This course is one semester but can be repeated to meet PE graduation requirements.
