Math Study Hall is a supplemental course that supports students in their grade-level math class. Through personalized instruction, targeted practice, and additional learning support, students strengthen foundational math skills, build confidence, and develop strategies for success. This course provides extra time to review important concepts, practice problem-solving, complete coursework, and receive individualized assistance based on each student's needs. The goal is to help students deepen their mathematical understanding, achieve success in their current math course, and build the skills and confidence needed for the next level of mathematics. Enrollment is teacher-recommended and offered in partnership with students and families to ensure the support meets each student's learning needs.
Learning Goals
Students who demonstrate understanding can:
- Use ratios, rates, proportions, and percentages to solve real-world and mathematical problems.
- Work confidently with numbers, including fractions, decimals, integers, rational numbers, and irrational numbers.
- Use mathematical operations and properties to simplify expressions and solve problems accurately.
- Solve equations, inequalities, and systems of equations and explain their solutions.
- Recognize, represent, and analyze relationships between quantities using tables, graphs, equations, and functions.
- Apply geometry concepts to solve problems involving angles, transformations, similarity, congruence, the Pythagorean Theorem, area, surface area, and volume.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data to make predictions, draw conclusions, and understand probability.
- Use mathematical reasoning and problem-solving strategies to make sense of problems, justify thinking, and communicate solutions clearly.
