Description
This course meets the .5 credit social studies graduation requirement for Civics and is an overview of the structure and functions of the U.S. government and political institutions and examine constitutional principles, the concepts of rights and responsibilities, the role of political parties and interest groups, and the importance of civic participation in the democratic process. This courses examines the structure and function of state and local governments and may cover certain economic and legal topics.

- Rights and responsibilities of citizens addressed in the Washington state and United States Constitutions
- Current issues addressed at each level of government
