Description
Business Communications courses introduce students to and help them refine their clerical and office assistant skills. Course content typically covers filing, telephone, and keyboarding skills; reprographic machinery and procedures; communications skills; and so on.

Students will:

- Identify ways to develop personal business communication skills
- Define active listening and overcome barriers to active listening
- Interpret and use body language to build confidence and trust
- Identify, adapt, describe, and use professional speech and business etiquette
- Identify, describe, recognize and practice using healthy interactions to build team collaboration and overcome challenges of working with diverse teams
- Identify, discuss, and describe the multiple ways to digitally communicate with teams and recognize ethical considerations of digital communication
- Identify audience, purpose, topic and form of presentations
- Describe and utilize best practices when delivering online presentations
- Conduct online and in-person presentation
- Recognize different communication channels while identifying and choosing appropriate routes for different tasks
- Convey a professional image through writing style and habits including being a team player
- Conduct research and targeted internet searches for high quality information
- Synthesize and cite quality sources and information
- Create a strong logical argument while displaying business writing structures suited for different audiences
- Preform prewriting activities including free write and visual design to enhance writing as well as revising writing
- Format and share word documents and templates to facilitate tracking and reviewing of business documents
- Identify basic grammar, recognize common grammatical issues that cause clarity issues, and edit writing style to conform to grammatical standards and ensure clarity
