Description
Digital Media Design and Production courses teach students the fundamentals of graphic design and production and provide students with the opportunity to apply these principles to printed media, digital presentation media, and interactive media.
Learning Goals
Students will:
- Define and practice the stages of active listening
- Describe the mindset necessary to be an effective oral communicator
- Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to business communications
- Describe and employ project management skills for a design project including pre and post production
- Demonstrate understanding of basic image file formats and their appropriate use in graphic design including import and revision
- Explain ethical and legal issues related to use of intellectual property.
- Design and conduct an photoshoot to create raster images and edit using graphics software
- Use vector-based software to design, create, and revise simple illustrations and animation files.
- Understand and demonstrate importance of public relations in the graphic design industry including effective crisis management, team building, and mentorship
- Understand and demonstrate proper ergonomic principles for computer work and proper computer maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrate an understanding of cyber safety and ethical online practices
- Describe and apply appropriate workplace safety practices
- Identify procedures to be followed in emergency situations
- Analyze how to best use social media for marketing your personal brand
