Calvert has been the trusted leader in distance learning for more than a century. Its time-tested curriculum is used by public, private, virtual charter and international schools and students in all 50 states and over 60 countries. The success of the Calvert program comes from a dynamic partnership between CVA, the Student Learning Advocate, Calvert educators, parents and students.
The Calvert Curriculum is built on a rich foundation of reading, writing and arithmetic. That foundation is then layered with history, science, music, geography and the arts to ensure no gaps in instruction. In addition, Calvert’s program is correlated to state standards. Calvert regularly reviews all courses and introduces new materials after considering state standards and the standards established by the National Council for Teachers of Mathematics, National Council for Teachers of English, National Council for Teachers of Social Studies, and National Science Teachers Association, as well as the International Society for Technology in Education.
Calvert Education Services is accredited by the Commission on Elementary Schools, a division of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Calvert curriculum is internationally recognized among independent schools. Courses are approved by the Maryland State Department of Education, and the school is a member of the Educational Records Bureau and the National Association of Independent Schools.
